We do more than provide healthcare. We provide opportunities for our residents to play an active role in the Duluth, MN, community. We’re grateful to have such strong relationships with many local organizations offering free concerts and recreational activities. We firmly believe an enriching lifestyle can aid a resident’s recovery and independence.
Local Businesses Support Our Mission
Expanding Horizons has strong connections with small businesses throughout Duluth, MN. Our partnership with the Duluth Chamber of Commerce improves our access to capital and resources that contribute to the Expanding Horizons mission. Thanks to our partners, individuals with persistent illnesses, developmental disorders and traumatic brain injuries are able to get the quality long-term care they deserve.

Community Groups Volunteer Their Time
Expanding Horizons has ongoing relationships with local community groups that use their subject matter expertise to teach our residents new technical and life skills. Community groups in the Duluth, MN area offer courses that cover computer skills, job coaching and daily activities. These courses help residents become more self-sufficient, which allows them to gain more autonomy over their lives.
The Community Provides Enriching Activities
There’s plenty to do in Duluth! 129 parks are located within the Duluth city limits—giving an incredible amount of options to explore right here in town. Many parks offer free activities such as Music in the Park, Movies in the Park, and numerous concerts and festivals year round. These activities and more are available to the residents of Expanding Horizons. We partner with local organizations to promote activities that improve our residents’ quality of life. With their support, we can encourage residents to step outside of their homes and into the community.
The residents of Expanding Horizons have access to these fun and engaging activities:
-Community events
We keep residents in the know about upcoming events in the surrounding community. The organizations running these events are more than happy to make the necessary accommodations for our residents so they’re more encouraged to attend.
-Free concerts
Our residents get to experience live music completely free of charge. We work closely with local organizations to ensure the venues are wheelchair accessible. We also ensure our residents have all the other resources they need to enjoy the concerts fully.
-Public parks
Duluth has no shortage of beautiful community parks. Many of our adult group homes are just minutes away from nature trails, grassy parks and destinations that overlook Lake Superior.
-YMCA programs
Every resident at Expanding Horizons gets a free YMCA membership. The membership has unlimited access to open gym time and exercise programs tailored to the residents’ fitness goals.
